Rate Calculator
The Rate Calculator lets you check shipping rates for any destination without needing an existing order. Enter a ZIP code, weight, and dimensions and Iraca returns rates from every source you have set up — your Iraca account, your own carrier accounts, and any connected marketplaces.
You'll find the Rate Calculator button on the Shipping Dashboard.
What it's for
Use it when you want to:
- Quote a customer a shipping price before you create the order.
- Compare carriers or services for a particular package size and destination.
- Sanity-check whether a preset's defaults give reasonable rates.
How to use it
- Open the Rate Calculator from the Shipping Dashboard.
- Ship from — pick the preset that matches where your package ships from.
- Destination ZIP — enter the recipient's 5-digit ZIP code.
- Weight — enter pounds and ounces.
- Dimensions — length, width, and height in inches (optional but improves accuracy for dimensional-weight carriers).
- Choose Get Rates.
Iraca queries all available sources concurrently and shows the results grouped by delivery speed — Overnight, 2-Day, Ground.
Reading the results
Each rate shows:
- Carrier and service (e.g. UPS Ground, USPS Priority Mail)
- Estimated delivery
- Price — including the Iraca markup for platform rates, and your own negotiated price for your own carrier accounts
- Source tag — where the rate comes from: Via Iraca, Your EasyPost account, Your carrier account, or a marketplace
If one source can't be reached, the rest still load and a short notice explains the gap.
Notes
- The calculator is read-only — it doesn't create a shipment or charge your wallet.
- You'll need at least one shipping preset saved. If you don't have one, go to Shipping Settings and add one first.
- Fewer options than the Buy Label dialog? That's expected. The calculator works from a ZIP code only, not a full ship-to address. Some carriers and services require a complete address to determine eligibility (residential vs. commercial, PO Box restrictions, etc.), so the full Buy Label flow may return additional options. Use the calculator for quick estimates; use Buy Label on the actual order for the complete rate list.
- Marketplace rates (Amazon Buy Shipping, Walmart, Etsy) are not available in the calculator because they're tied to specific orders. They appear in the Buy Label dialog when you buy a label for a marketplace order.
