Shipping Presets

A shipping preset is a saved ship-from address plus a set of package defaults. You need at least one before you can quote rates or buy a label — it's what tells carriers where the package is coming from. Set one up once and every label flow fills in from it.

You'll manage presets under Shipping Settings.

Why you need one

Carriers price a shipment from origin to destination, so a rate quote needs a ship-from address. Until you've saved a preset, Iraca has no origin to send — so:

  • The Buy Label dialog will send you to Shipping Settings to add one before it can get rates.
  • On the bulk purchase page, fetching rates for an order will fail with a message telling you a ship-from address is needed.

If you ever see "Failed to get rates", a missing preset is the most common cause — add one and try again.

What a preset holds

  • A ship-from address — where your packages originate.
  • Package defaults — typical weight (in pounds and ounces) and dimensions (length × width × height in inches).

When you buy a label, the package fields prefill from the preset you pick. You can still adjust them for a specific package — the preset is just a starting point so you're not retyping the same numbers every time.

Setting one up

  1. Go to Shipping Settings.
  2. Add a preset with your ship-from address and your usual package defaults.
  3. Save it. It's now available in the Buy Label dialog and on the bulk purchase page.

If you ship from more than one location or use very different package sizes, save a preset for each and pick the right one at label time.

Address validation on the ship-from address

When you add or edit the ship-from address on a preset, a Validate Address button appears. Iraca checks the address against USPS delivery data and shows any corrections — for example, confirming the ZIP+4 or standardizing an abbreviation. See Address Validation.

This guide covers the Iraca app and its add-ons. The Iraca Marketplace is documented separately.
